Bullet Types on the indoor range

It has come to our attention that some members do not know the difference between jacketed and non-jacketed ammunition. Jacketed bullets are encased in a thin metal covering, usually copper gilding metal or plated with copper, but can be brass or plated steel. Non jacketed bullets are made of plain lead. Just because there is no jacket exposed above the case on a round of ammunition does not make it non jacketed! Please read the information on the box that the ammunition came in for information on whether it is jacketed or not. Firing jacketed bullets on our indoor range is damaging the backstops.

The bullet on the left is jacketed, the one on the right is plain lead.
Jacketed bullets are NOT ALLOWED on the indoor range!

Glens Falls Post Star Reply

The following is a reply from Post Star editor, Ken Tingley:

"To our readers,

responding to the concerns of our readers about something that has
not even been published in our newspaper or Web site.

In the past week, the amount of e-mails and general conversation in
the community -- and in some cases around the state -- has reached
such a pitch that we felt it was in everyone's best interest to
address the concerns directly.

About a month ago one of our reporters submitted a Freedom of

Glens Falls Newspaper Ignites Controversy

Three million Americans carry concealed weapons.

The Glens Falls Post-Star wants to know the names of all pistol
permit holders in Warren County and has submitted a Freedom of
Information Law request to the Warren County Clerk's Office to obtain
a list of the concealed carry permit holders, apparently with the
intent to publish those names.

This request, apparently being undertaken by Post-Star reporter Nick
Reisman, has initiated a firestorm of protest from local law
enforcement officials, county officials, and certainly among gun
